Ex-Muslim interrupts Anne Marie Waters

Summary:

A five-and-a-half minute clip from Al-Jazeera of an Arab-American psychologist (Wafa Sultan) delivering a devastating critique of Muslims and defense of Jews. Sounds like partisan bickering, but try to find a single comment she makes that you can disagree with. She does this within the framework of a debate with a muslim cleric, whose only argument is: "You're a heretic, so we don't have to listen to you."

A jogger has told how he was almost drowned by a canal-path thug - and only escaped by speaking to them in Arabic. Dad-of-two Lee Skinner, 38, was punched in the face and knocked into the freezing water as he ran past five hooded youths in Acocks Green . As he struggled to get out of the cold, slippery canal the thug who punched him was waiting - until the former language teacher started speaking Arabic. The shame-faced gang, all aged around 17, then fled the scene and the attacker is now being hunted by police.

Steven Ellis and Jason Hendry were told tensions were high as the EDL was about to march while Muslims celebrated Ramadan. Two animal lovers were branded paedophiles and pelted with stones by dozens of men for wearing mankinis on a sponsored walk. Steven Ellis, 41, and brother-in-law Jason Hendry, 22, had to be rescued by police after being attacked by outraged residents in a city street [Birmingham]. The duo, who were raising money for a dogs’ home, said officers told them the skimpy outfits had offended Muslims living along the route.

Summary:

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the UK, with the number of Muslims almost doubling in the last few years from 1.5 million in 2001 to 2.71 million in the latest census, 2011. A small but increasing number of people are also choosing to leave the religion and many say doing so has led them to be rejected by their family and friends and - in some cases - threatened with violence. Benjamin Zand spoke to ex-Muslims.
